The
Key to this pro-active system starts with a dental office with extensive
experience and knowledge in Dentistry. This method parallels how
Dr. Greenacre has developed the smiles of his own 4 children and
what he recommended for his own nephews, nieces and the children
of his staff members.
Our
pro-active system has these key elements:
1) Extensive experience - Dr. Greenacre has over
35 years of experience. Our pro-active system first evolved in Dr.
Greenacre’s imagination when he was a dental editor of Dentalfacts
at Medifacts Limited from 1977 to 1983 when he interviewed/recorded
and studied the clinical experiences of approximately 200 advanced
dental clinicians.
2) 1 or Both of the 2 parents needs to help their child at home with
this system.
3)
Before becoming parents a super-nutrition diet 21 months before birth
will give a new child all of the needed nutrients from pre-conseption
to birth. Oral health education is important to teach children starting
at early ages. Nutrition and oral health is important to help children
grow to their best and prevent disease. With the help of your Dentist,
your children can be seen throught their childhood for educational
and preventative sevices. Between the ages of 13 and 18 observations
and minor ‘tweaking’ of the smiles may be needed to help
molar crowding.
4)
Dental Flossing – Take the time to floss your
children’s teeth once a day. Put the floss on top of the television,
do it while they are lying in bed. Whatever you do, floss between
their baby back teeth, on the left side and then on the right side,
once a day. This is very important to insure the child's gums stay
healthy and strong.
5)
Saliva Tests – There are new saliva tests that
will predict if children will develop tooth decay or gum disease.
Knowing if a child is more prone to cavities or gum disease we can
pro-activly prevent cavities or gum disease from starting. High levels
of acidity can indicate signs of future tooth decay, while very low
levels show that gum disease could become present. Aside from acid
levels saliva test can be performed for levels of oral bacterial which
can help to prevent tooth decay.
6) Early Orthodontic Diagnosis – Early orthodontic
diagnosis starting at 2-3 years of age can help to evaluate the growing
face of a child by looking at breathing and swallowing patterns. This
can help to diagnose needed orthodontic treatment early and help facial
growth as children are growing.
7) Molar Crowding – This can be evaluated as
early as 9, 10, or 11 years of age and can be solved so that by age
12-13 removal of second molars done, over, and finished with. Eliminating
wisdom tooth difficulties in adulthood by providing enough room for
them to erupt aroung age 18-24.
8)
Preventative Maintenance – Your children will
have finished their dental treatment by the age of 12-13 and will
only require minor preventative care in their bright futures. Regular
bi-annual cleanings will continue to help prevent tooth decay and
gum disease.
